If you're looking for a unique experience, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge is an excellent choice. This resort offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to get up close and personal with African wildlife without ever leaving the property.

In addition to the stunning savannas and animal encounters, both Kidani Village and Jambo House at Animal Kingdom Lodge offer a variety of activities and experiences for guests of all ages. Whether you're interested in learning about African culture, trying new foods, or simply lounging by the pool, there's something for everyone. Here are 11 of the best activities to enjoy during your stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

1.  Evening Campfires

Roast marshmallows and relax as the sun goes down with nightly campfires at both Jambo House and Kidani Village. A free nightly experience, the atmosphere of Animal Kingdom Lodge at sunset with savanna views make this a great experience for the whole family.  

2.  Movies Under the Stars

Bring the kiddos for a once-in-a-lifetime experience watching a movie under the stars next to an African savanna and a world-class zoo. Disney films are available multiple nights per week and a it’s a free experience!

3. Uzima Springs Pool (Jambo House)

Uzima Springs Pool has one of the longest water slides on Walt Disney World Property (67 feet). It’s perfect for kids! With a zero-depth entry to the pool, Uzima Springs is a blast for the whole family.

4. Samawati Springs Pool (Kidani Village)

When you stay at Animal Kindom Lodge, you have access to the pools at Jambo House and Samawati Springs! Samawati Springs Pool is a short 10 minute walk or van ride away from Jambo House and can often be a little less crowded. It has a great splash pad water playground called Uwanja Camp that your kids will absolutely love!

5. Starlight Safari

Embark on a nighttime tour of the savanna and see the animals in a whole new light. Led by a knowledgeable guide, the Starlight Safari is an amazing experience. You’ll drive through the savanna at night with night vision goggles. The cost is $75.65-$89 per person (tax not included). It typically runs at 8:30 pm and 10 pm. Reservations are required. It’s available exclusively to Guests 8 years of age or older. Guests under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a participating adult who is 18 years of age or older. It lasts about an hour.

6. Savanna Views and Overlooks

One of the most unique features of the Animal Kingdom Lodge is the savanna views. Many of the rooms at the resort overlook the savannas, where you can see a variety of African animals in their natural habitat. If you don't have a savanna view room, don't worry - there are plenty of other spots where you can view the animals. Head to one of the many outdoor viewing areas, or grab a seat near one of the large windows in the lobby.

Animal viewing is a popular activity at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, and for good reason. You can see a variety of animals, including giraffes, zebras, and gazelles, roaming freely on the savannas. Cast Members are on hand to answer your questions and provide information about the animals, so don't be afraid to ask!

Boma’s buffet-style all-you-care-to-enjoy breakfast is one of the best meals on Disney property. The food is amazing and you should be sure to make a reservation!

8.  Sanaa Bread Service

Sanaa serves Indian-inspired cuisine with an African twist, and it's known for its bread service. The bread service comes with a variety of bread and dipping sauces, including spiced coriander and mango chutney.

Both Jambo House and Kidani Village have activity centers for kids. Coloring and small activities are available. Some activities have a small fee for materials.

10.  Zebra Domes

For dessert, try the zebra domes. These small, chocolate-covered desserts are a signature item at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and are a must-try during your stay!

11. Hakuna Matata Playground

Located at Jambo House near the pool, the Hakuna Matata Playground is a great place for kids to burn off some energy. The playground features a variety of climbing structures, slides, and other fun activities. There's also plenty of seating for parents to relax and watch their kids play.
