2026 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend Themes Revealed!

runDisney has announced the 2026 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend themes, bringing a storybook twist to the race lineup. Each event is inspired by a different literary genre, featuring unique character hosts, immersive entertainment, and themed courses. Here’s a look at what themes runners can expect for the 2026 event.

This might be my favorite set of themes since the 2023 retro 90’s themes!

2026 runDisney Marathon Weekend Race Themes

Walt Disney World 5K – Sci-Fi Adventure

Pluto takes the lead in this out-of-this-world 3.1-mile race, launching runners into a sci-fi-inspired experience. Expect space-themed elements and cosmic fun along the course.

Walt Disney World 10K – Mystery & Detective Story

Chip and Dale guide runners through a 6.2-mile mystery, packed with clues, surprises, and classic detective vibes.

Walt Disney World Half Marathon – Romance & Fairy Tales

Donald and Daisy Duck set the scene for a 13.1-mile journey through Disney’s most charming settings.

Walt Disney World Marathon – Fantasy & Adventure

Mickey and Minnie take on royal roles for this 26.2-mile course, filled with storybook fantasy elements.

Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge – Comedy & Fun

For those tackling both the Half Marathon and Marathon (39.3 miles total), Goofy adds a lighthearted touch to the challenge. Runners who complete both races earn a bonus medal.

Dopey Challenge – The Ultimate Storybook Quest

Runners who complete all four races—5K, 10K, Half Marathon, and Marathon (48.6 miles total)—earn six medals and a spot in runDisney history. This is the ultimate challenge for dedicated Disney runners.

  • General Registration: March 11, 2025, at 10 AM ET
