The Magic of Disney Animation Phased Opening Summer 2026
One of the most exciting announcements is the debut of The Magic of Disney Animation, an immersive experience that brings animated characters to life in a way that feels pulled straight out of “Once Upon a Studio.”
This new area will include interactive moments where characters appear from portraits, draw alongside guests, and even invite you into a Drawn To Wonderland playground inspired by Mary Blair’s original Alice in Wonderland concept art.
Disney wants this to be a signature experience that blends nostalgia with modern technology.
Families who have been missing consistent princess meet and greets at Hollywood Studios just got some great news. Disney is bringing back a full lineup of princess interactions inside a new mini-land called Off the Page.
This area is split into six departments inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios:

- Layout
- Hand Drawn Animation
- Computer Animation
- Lighting
- Effects
Each department features a meet and greet designed around the animation process.

Mulan in the Story Department
You can meet Mulan in front of a massive storyboard panel. It looks like you stepped right inside the film planning room.

Rapunzel appears in a setting inspired by the classic multiplane camera. If you align your photo just right, the background layers line up like a real animation scene.
Expect this area to become an instant must do for families with younger kids. The photo ops alone will be some of the best in the park.

The Walt Disney Studios area at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will open with Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live! (the same show currently at Disney’s California Adventure).
