Disney just shared new details about the future of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and we had a surprise change this week! The preshow has officially closed, without announcement, a and the long rumored Muppets retheme is now confirmed for a summer 2026 debut.
If you want to ride the classic Aerosmith version one more time, your window is closing fast.
Here is everything families need to know:
When will Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Close?
Disney announced the Aerosmith version of the ride will close on March 2, 2026 (final day to ride March 1, 2026).
The Preshow Is Already Closed

The famous “Studio C” preshow featuring Aerosmith is now closed permanently, and is blocked by record studio theming (pictured). This is the first visible step toward the attraction’s transformation and signals that Disney is moving quickly into refurbishment mode.
Guests entering the attraction will now skip the preshow room entirely and proceed directly to the loading area. The classic “Hold on to your hats” moment is officially gone.
If you’re visiting soon and wanted that final nostalgia hit, it’s important to know that part of the experience has already changed.
Aerosmith Version Runs Through Spring 2026

The current version of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will continue running until spring 2026, giving fans a few more months to experience the original high speed ride before Imagineering begins the full transformation.
The track layout will remain the same. What’s changing is the show scene, the music, the theming, and the overall story. This is the biggest update in the attraction’s history and comes shortly after a lengthy track refurbishment.
Expect heavy demand and long waits during the final months of the Aerosmith era. If you want to ride it before it changes, plan to rope drop or book MultiPass early.
Rock n Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets Opens Summer 2026

The new version, Rock n Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, officially opens in summer 2026. Disney is promising a completely reimagined experience with all new effects, a new soundtrack, and the chaotic charm only The Muppets can deliver.
While Disney hasn’t revealed every detail yet, the story appears to revolve around Gonzo, Kermit, and the gang attempting to stage a rock show with their usual unpredictable results.
It won’t make up for getting rid of Muppet Courtyard, but at least they are making an effort to keep them in the parks in some way.
