Everything We Know About Disney Starlight — Magic Kingdom’s Brand-New Nighttime Parade

There’s a brand-new nighttime parade coming to Magic Kingdom and if you love Main Street Electrical Parade or SpectroMagic, you’re going to want to make room in your itinerary for this one.

Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away officially debuts July 20, 2025, and after months of anticipation, Disney just dropped the full details. I’ve broken it all down below, including exact showtimes, character appearances, merchandise, and how to make sure you don’t miss it on your next Walt Disney World vacation.

Parade Times: When (and When Not) to See It

This part is critical: Disney Starlight will run twice each night at:

  • 9:00 PM
  • 11:00 PM

The parade kicks off near Main Street, U.S.A., and travels toward Frontierland — the opposite direction of Festival of Fantasy — which should help with crowd flow during park close.

But here’s the catch:
You won’t be able to see this parade on nights when Magic Kingdom hosts Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. That includes several dates starting in mid-August, so check the event calendar closely if you’re planning a late summer or fall trip.

And as with all outdoor entertainment at Disney World, the parade is weather-dependent and may be canceled for rain or storms.

What to Expect From Disney Starlight

This is a completely new parade concept designed specifically for nighttime — not a re-theme of a previous offering.

Disney Live Entertainment calls it a journey through “dreamscapes,” where light and music bring beloved Disney and Pixar stories to life in a way that’s more dynamic than anything we’ve seen at Magic Kingdom before. You’ll spot some nods to SpectroMagic and Electrical Parade, but with the technology we’ve come to expect from modern Disney productions.

Expect a mix of classic and newer characters, plus stunning lighting effects, original music, and a finale float that pulls inspiration straight from Disney parade history.

Full Character Lineup

Here’s everyone confirmed to appear in Disney Starlight:

  • The Blue Fairy – Kicking off the parade and setting the magical tone
  • Peter Pan & Wendy
  • Asha (Wish)
  • The Madrigals – Mirabel, Isabela & Bruno (Encanto)
  • Elsa
  • Royal Couples – Aurora & Phillip, Tiana & Naveen, Belle & Beast, Cinderella & Charming
  • Miguel & Pepita (Coco)
  • Moana
  • Finale Float – Goofy, Pluto, Donald, Daisy, Snow White & Dopey, Rapunzel & Flynn, Aladdin & Jasmine, and of course Mickey & Minnie Mouse in brand-new sparkling looks

Technology and Float Design

This isn’t a static float parade — the design team used LED panels, lighting animation, and modern visual effects to make each unit feel alive.

For example, the Blue Fairy’s entire float is made of points of light, and the Encanto float features curved LED screens that animate the Casita with glowing detail. It’s an ambitious mix of storytelling and technology — something you really need to see in person to appreciate.

And that finale float? It’s a full-on starlit train inspired by the Main Street Electrical Parade, reimagined for a new generation.

Starlight Merchandise and Snacks

There will be exclusive parade merch and snacks available starting opening night, July 20:

Merch highlights:

  • Light-up Mickey ears with a removable bow
  • Parade logo tee
  • Disney pin and bubble wand
  • Parade-themed blanket

You’ll want to use Merchandise Mobile Checkout to skip the lines especially right before parade time.

Specialty snack:
Head to Main Street Confectionary for a new popcorn mix featuring bubble gum & blue raspberry candy popcorn, M&M’s, marshmallows, and white chocolate drizzle. This will be available only during Disney Starlight and only at Magic Kingdom.

Mobile Order is available here too and I highly recommend it.

Final Thoughts

This is a big one. Disney doesn’t introduce new nighttime parades at Magic Kingdom often — and Disney Starlight looks like a true successor to the fan-favorite electrical parades of the past. If your trip falls after July 20, I’d build this into your plans just like you would fireworks or a nighttime show.

✅ Here’s What to Do:

  • Check if your Magic Kingdom day is NOT a Halloween Party night
  • Make sure you’re in place by 9 PM or 11 PM — and pick a spot early
  • Use Mobile Order and Mobile Checkout for snacks and merch
  • Bring a portable charger — your phone will be working overtime with photos and video

Whether you’re team nostalgia or team new magic, this parade looks like it’s going to deliver both.

I’ll be there opening night! Follow along on Instagram and YouTube for first-look coverage and tips once we see it live.
